]]>Unfortunately I had to have surgery in early January, so while I was on my sofa recovering for a month, it got me thinking… and since I have had this site for so long, I decided that it’s finally time to make it REAL. Make it WORTH SOMETHING. Because at the end of the day, FOOD is definitely my passion! Why putz around doing other things when I already have the workings of success right here? Why start other projects when the foundation is already built?
If you’re in a similar situation of having way too many ideas, I urge you to sit back, and really think about the value of your time. Here are questions to ask yourself, that I have recently tried to answer myself…
For me personally, my loves in life are ANIMALS and FOOD. Either of these two things could get me chattin for hours on end… and since I already have a few websites designed around these subject matters, it only makes sense to revisit them and not let them die off completely.
Re-prioritizing my priorities was one of the hardest things I had to do in the past few weeks. I definitely have WAY too many ideas, and unfortunately for someone like me, it’s way too easy to waste a lot of time being unproductive, thinking in the back of my mind that I’m being productive, but I’m not.
The tables have turned, and it’s time for a change. I don’t expect success overnight, it will not happen. I do pledge devotion to Fryhole, which was one of my first website babies, and still is… the key is consistency, something that I have lacked over the years (if you look in the archives it dates back to 2008, on and off). Documenting my progress here will help keep me accountable and on track. Who’s with me?
To start off, today I’m joining some blog sharing networks…
First up, follow my blog with Bloglovin we’re excited to be there!
I’m also signed up on BlogHer. I signed up for this site many years ago but never really did anything with it, I see that they have updated their site a lot… diving back in. Unfortunately because I am just getting back into things I’m not eligible for the BlogHer ad network, I have to try again in 3 months, ack! I have applications in process for the BlogHer Influencer Network.
Sites I signed up for:
I also went a head and submitted my site to search engines with AddMe:

Now, most people who blog about how to do this or that are well, experienced, and have a great successful track record, and tens of thousands of dollars coming in every month. BUT NOT ME! I can assure you that I’m starting from rock bottom, and I hope you will join me on this exciting journey. Although I do have some content already, it’s been sitting around in the black hole of the internet for many years, so essentially, I’m basically starting from scratch.
What makes Fryhole different than other food blogs out there? Well first off, I RARELY cook, so this food blog is NOT about recipes. It’s more about restaurants, and food you can buy in the SF Bay Area, with a little sprinkle of other things (maybe a recipe here or there, some product reviews, etc…).
To keep things completely transparent, here is a screenshot from my Google Analytics account (sad, don’t laugh!). As you can see, it’s month-date, for Feb 1-17th.
Here are my top 10 referring sources:
Lastly, here is a breakdown of devices used to view the site:
As you can see, I do still get some traffic… which is not converting. I think the reason it is not converting is because I don’t post often enough. Moving forward, I am committing myself to post at least once a week, if not more.
This was just about the longest post I’ve ever written, ever. ANYWHERE. If you made it down to the bottom, CONGRATS and I hope you come back soon! High-FRY!

]]>A few changes moving forward…
With sadness in my little heart I must announce that some of the restaurants featured are not longer in business.
This place was my favorite bar in downtown SF when I used to work down there. It was a popular hangout for nice people who just wanted a drink and some good American food. Nothing fancy, nothing pretentious about it… that’s why I loved it so much. It was a very special place, best known for all of the motorcycles hanging from the ceiling, tiffany lamps that lined the bar and obese cat named Mr. Higgins.
Another local hangout for me when I used to work downtown. This place was awesome – it had a partial outdoor space and was hidden down an alley. They had a killer turkey burger and sweet potato fries.
I used to freaking LOVE Bombay Ice Cream. I got a scoop every single time I ate somewhere on Valencia. This was back when I first moved to San Francisco in 2004 and lived in the Mission. Bombay Ice Cream was the freaking BOMB. They had all kinds of weird flavors like Cardamon Rose and Black Sesame… true ice cream innovators – loooong before the days of Humphrey Slocombe and BiRite Creamery!
I used to eat at this place for lunch pretty often with my lunch buddy. We used to call it “Shames” because we felt like lards after we ate there (it was pretty good). They had hand-cut french fries and a bunch of different burgers.
That’s it for now, stay tuned for new posts!
