]]>A few changes moving forward…
With sadness in my little heart I must announce that some of the restaurants featured are not longer in business.
This place was my favorite bar in downtown SF when I used to work down there. It was a popular hangout for nice people who just wanted a drink and some good American food. Nothing fancy, nothing pretentious about it… that’s why I loved it so much. It was a very special place, best known for all of the motorcycles hanging from the ceiling, tiffany lamps that lined the bar and obese cat named Mr. Higgins.
Another local hangout for me when I used to work downtown. This place was awesome – it had a partial outdoor space and was hidden down an alley. They had a killer turkey burger and sweet potato fries.
I used to freaking LOVE Bombay Ice Cream. I got a scoop every single time I ate somewhere on Valencia. This was back when I first moved to San Francisco in 2004 and lived in the Mission. Bombay Ice Cream was the freaking BOMB. They had all kinds of weird flavors like Cardamon Rose and Black Sesame… true ice cream innovators – loooong before the days of Humphrey Slocombe and BiRite Creamery!
I used to eat at this place for lunch pretty often with my lunch buddy. We used to call it “Shames” because we felt like lards after we ate there (it was pretty good). They had hand-cut french fries and a bunch of different burgers.
That’s it for now, stay tuned for new posts!

]]>I’m definitely a corn-ie and will rarely refuse anything with corn in it. The Cream of Corn soup is pureed very finely (there are no whole pieces of corn in it). They use alot of butter also so it is buttery and corn-y with a smooth n silky texture, yum! (I actually went to Zebulon two days in a row to get this soup).
The sandwich on the other hand was just good. Nothing spectacular about it. My general complaint with most hot sandwiches is that they could be hotter (don’t just toast the bread and broil the cheese down, heat up the meat too, geez!), and this sandwich was no exception. The sweet potato fries were excellent as usual – sweet, crispy and chock full of yam. The sweet potato fries are magnet that keeps pulling me back to Zebulon, I could eat them everyday and every night for the rest of my life.
Overall, a good lunch.

]]>The turkey burger came with a chipotle mayo and the sweet potato fries are to die for. If nothing else, I would come to Zebulon just to stuff my little fryhole with those sweet potato fries… they are SO GOOD!!
The burger was AMAZING. It was juicy, HUGE and really messy. I think this was the best turkey burger I’ve ever had. And those sweet potato fries were sweet, salty and lightly crunchy on the outside and really soft on the inside.
